By early 2007 it had been over a decade since my last pack of baseball cards. Not only had I gone cold turkey with collecting but after my childhood idol admitted to being a cheater (alongside his buddies), baseball died for me around 2002.
One fateful day at a Barnes & Noble I stumbled upon a [...]

Is anyone doing this set? I have a small stack of them that I wouldn’t mind getting off my desk for something more productive, or just to clear the space. Post a comment, or hit me up at the Contact link.

There are a ton of great websites out there paying homage to the game’s greatest players. While some sit stagnant and only update content 1 or 2 times a year, there are quite a few that remain fresh with new content added on a regular basis.
Of them, I think that one of the best is [...]

I have lost an Andrew Miller card.
Last week, friend and fellow blogger, Eric Slette, surprised me with an Andrew Miller card I needed. It was a 2009 Upper Deck First Edition base card. It was not the fanciest or flashiest card but because I needed it, I was very happy.
Around that time, things at home [...]

We had a pair of winners in this past week’s Beat The Blogger contest, with Aubrey
Thomas II and Lukas each picking 9 of 10 matchups correctly and adding
their doublers to tie for the top spot. For those of you who came up short, check
out this week’s matchups below and post your picks to try and win again.
For those unfamiliar with the Beat the Blogger contest, the idea is simple.
The Blogger posts 10 matchups each week and then selects his choices for the winners
of those matchups. Contestants enter the Beat the Blogger contest by clicking on
the “Comment” section below the post with the matchups and then select their
own 10 winners. You can also designate one of your picks as a “Doubler” and
you will receive an extra point if you’re correct so don’t forget to designate your
“
Doubler”
pick and increase your chances of winning. If you Beat The Blogger’s total and post
the high score for the week, you win. The regular weekly prize is an authentic
signed 8-by-10 color photo of stars such as LaDainian Tomlinson, Drew
Brees, Marshall Faulk, Santonio Holmes, Gale Sayers, Catfish Hunter and many more.
From time to time, the Blogger will sweeten the pot for the weekly contest and that’s
where the Chipper Jones jersey comes into play. If we can get more than 300 entries this
week, the weekly winner will receive the Jones jersey so we need everybody to spread
the word about the contest so we can reach our goal.
This week’s Matchups with Blogger’s picks in parenthesis
Saturday June 27
MLB
Philadelphia at Toronto (Philadelphia)
Minnesota at St. Louis (Minnesota)
Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox (White Sox)
Florida at Tampa Bay (Florida)
NY Yankees at NY Mets (Yankees)
Sunday June 28
Kansas City at Pittsburgh (Royals, Doubler)
Boston at Atlanta (Boston)
Washington at Baltimore (Baltimore)
Colorado at Oakland (Colorado)

GOOD LUCK

This is the Padres’ Fourth of July (a.k.a. Manny’s back, game #2) stadium giveaway:
I’m fairly confident that no Dodger promotion, past or present, has mentioned any other team, and especially not the Padres.
But it’s nice to know they’re still thinking of us, even when they’re sitting 15 games back behind in the standings. Besides, [...]
