Dear Topps,
I saw the design for your base set 2010 and I would like to say that I enjoy it a bit. I know it’s a fusion of an old Bazooka set and a Topps set, but it looks a bit refreshing. Traditionalists may not like it because it looks pretty modern, but I dig [...]

As some of you know I’m working on a special project to obtain the first card from every Topps baseball set from 1952 through present. It’s a project that started earlier this year after realizing I had a few vintage Number Ones, including the almighty 1952 Topps Andy Pafko. Over the last week I have [...]

On this day in 1961, Billy Williams was awarded with the Rookie of the Year award in the National League.
In that ‘61 campaign, Williams starred in 146 games for the Chicago Cubs. And once he earned that starting job in left field, he kept it for fourteen years!!!
During his ROY season, Williams hit .278 while [...]

Bo Jackson turns 47 years old today.
Vincent Edward Jackson was one of the most exciting players to debut in major league baseball during the 1980’s. A 2-sport athlete that built a strong following at the University of Auburn, Jackson was a star before he made his professional debut.
And although his career was cut short due [...]

It isn’t often that I am able to write about a Seahawk. This season has just been miserable. They have beaten the rotten teams they should have beaten and get destroyed by all the other teams. At this point I’m hoping they keep on their losing ways so that they can get a decent draft [...]

Not one of my finest specimens. The excellent centering, which is always tough with these cards, is ruined by staining, a big crease, a rubber band dimple, AND soft corners. The bottom right of the card is kinda hanging on for dear life. Might only be a G if graded out.
Because Pinson isn’t a Hall [...]

Vada Pinson was a very good player overshadowed by one of the greatest of his generation, Frank Robinson. In his first full season in the majors, Pinson led the NL in doubles and runs scored and made the All-Star team. He followed that with another All-Star appearance in 1960, leading the NL once again in [...]
