Jim Pagliaroni (#586)

on January 26th, 2010 by Jim from Downingtown

Jim Pagliaroni was signed by the Red Sox in 1955 as a bonus baby. A 1952 rule stipulated that a player receiving a bonus of more than a $4000 must remain on the major-league roster for 2 seasons. That year, he played no minor-league ball, but appeared …

#244 Lindy McDaniel

on January 26th, 2010 by Kevin

I think we can safely add “Lindy” to the list of names we may never see again in baseball. His birth name was Lyndall, by the way. I was going to make a Triple Lindy joke, but regrettably McDaniel never hit a three-bagger in his career. Que sera, sera….

David Krejci Collection – Card 15

on January 26th, 2010 by shanediaz82

I’m embarrassed to even post this, as the Bruins have been a total joke the past couple of weeks, but I’m trying to stick to my commitment of posting a new David Krejci card each time he scores this season. That shouldn’t be hard, as the Bruins total …

2009 Topps Triple Threads All-Star Patch

on January 26th, 2010 by thehamiltonian

I posted a little while back about my dilemma concerning having money to spend and not being able to decide.  Well, this card came along via BIN and it made up my mind.  Not only is it a low-numbered patch card – its from one of the defining moments of Hamilton’s career to date.  This [...]

It’s a math joke, folks.  Get it?
My kids bought me some loose packs for Christmas since I had hinted I’d be interested in the set.  I realize the mad rush for T206 has mostly come and gone, and we should all be blogging on “The Only One’s!” first exclusive release.  More on that later, I [...]

Living a fantasy

on January 26th, 2010 by Newspaperman

Tomorrow marks the 40th day since I last opened a pack of baseball cards. It’s pretty big milestone for a guy who at times can be addicted to ripping packs and thumbing through new baseball cards. But I know that tough times are ahead as 2010 Topps baseball has already started to hit the market.
But [...]

TTM Success: JohnTudor

on January 26th, 2010 by 30-Year Old Cardboard

8 short days was all that it took for former Cardinals and Dodgers pitcher John Tudor to return these 2 baseball cards back to me.
Beautifully signed in Blue Sharpie, Tudor’s delivery of these 2 great autographs were almost as fast as his delivery to the plate.
I have vivid memories of collecting John Tudor cards as a kid.  [...]
