2009 Topps 206 Hamilton Base

on March 3rd, 2010 by thehamiltonian

I picked this card, and a couple of the mini versions up in a quick trade that came my way via the blog world.  I am really not too sure what to think of this photo.  On one hand, I love it and on the other hand I think its stupid.

I think I would like [...]

Olympic Hiatus

on February 24th, 2010 by thehamiltonian

You might have guessed, or you might not have noticed, but I am in full Olympic mode, so the Hamilton collection is briefly paused.  Well, not really – its paused in the sense that I am not posting my pickups.  I am still making them, and still trying to organize them.
Go Canada Go!

2009 Topps Triple Threads All-Star Patch

on January 26th, 2010 by thehamiltonian

I posted a little while back about my dilemma concerning having money to spend and not being able to decide.  Well, this card came along via BIN and it made up my mind.  Not only is it a low-numbered patch card – its from one of the defining moments of Hamilton’s career to date.  This [...]

2002 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor

on January 23rd, 2010 by thehamiltonian

This is another card rom my recent purchase from Checkout My Cards.  I snagged this card quite cheap.  I am a bit of a sucker for Refractors, and Gold is as good as it gets.  This card is serial numbered 12/50.

iCardz: America at War / Band of Brothers – Jump Wings

on January 23rd, 2010 by thehamiltonian

This card is from the Band of Brothers subset of the America at War product.  A paratrooper earned his jump wings by matering four main areas:  physical fitness, parachute tower and landing techniques, packing their own chute, and actually jumping out of an airplane 5 times.  If they refused one jump, they were automatically dismissed [...]

iCardz: America at War / Band of Brothers S1 – Packaging

on January 21st, 2010 by thehamiltonian

I know, card packaging is usually just something you have to plow through to get to the cards inside.  For this product, it was also something I have never seen before.  These cards are packaged in paper envelopes that are about 3″ x 5″ when closed.  This is definitely an eco-improvement over all the plastic [...]

iCardz America at War / Band of Brothers S1: Autographs

on January 20th, 2010 by thehamiltonian

I first heard about iCardz Military History products from a post on Trader’s Crack, several months ago.  The post was about the D-Day card set, but when I started searching around the company’s site, I saw a lot of things I really liked.  I ordered a box of their America at War card set featuring [...]

Triple Threads – Hammer

on January 19th, 2010 by thehamiltonian

This isn’t my big pickup (hopefully that is in transit), but it was part of a purchase off CheckoutMyCards.com, which is a site I am growing to love more and more every time I visit.  I am considering getting a box of cards together to sell there.
My first purchase from 2009 Triple Threads is this [...]

Dilemma

on January 4th, 2010 by thehamiltonian

Not a huge dilemma, its more along the lines of ‘a nice problem to have’.
Normally, when I am browsing Josh Hamilton cards on eBay there are tons of cards that I want.  Normally, I don’t have a ton of ‘card money’ at any one time.  Right now, I have some free ‘card money’ and I [...]

2009 Sweet Spot Ryan / Hamilton Dual Jersey

on December 28th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

I picked this card up at a local show – I might have overpaid a little bit, but I didn’t have to wait and I didn’t have to pay shipping.  I dodged the bullet with 2009 Sweet Spot in that Josh Hamilton didn’t have too many autographs – UD really loaded up on jerseys for [...]

Update

on December 22nd, 2009 by thehamiltonian

There hasn’t been nearly as much Josh Hamilton news this off-season as there was last season, probably a result of the disappointing season he had on the field, and the fact that he isn’t the ‘hot new story’ now.  My card pickups have also slowed down a little bit in the leadup to Christmas, as [...]

Five Pack Topps 206 Break

on December 6th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

As I said yesterday, this product hasn’t really caught my attention, but I wanted to try some new baseball form the card show today, and this was the only product I hadn’t already tried.
In 5 packs, I ended up with 5 minis, and 5 copper coloured cards, that I think they are calling gold now.  [...]

Card Show Tomorrow

on December 5th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

There is a card show here tomorrow.  I am not sure how many Hamiltons and / or baseball cards I will find there, but I will keep an eye out.
I haven’t had a ton of new Hamilton cards incoming lately, which explains the lack of posting here.  Just in one of those stretches where nothing [...]

Some Cardboard Hamiltons

on November 25th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

There was a surprise package in the mail today from Marie over at A Cardboard Problem.  We have traded in the past, but I wasn’t really expecting anything at the moment.  Here’s what I found inside:

Another one off my list of 20th Anniversary Cards.  I believe Hamilton has 12 cards in this set, and I [...]

I made my semi-regular (read:  when I remember about the site) trip to Checkout My Cards.com the other day, and just recently my cards arrived in the mail.  This site is growing, and I really hope it succeeds long enough for me to get my act together and send some cards in.  You may think [...]

2009 Sweet Spot Pack Break.

on November 14th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

Billy Butler Jersey Card.
Yeah, I’m not scanning it.  Luckily, I also broke this box of hockey, which went much better.
I had picked up a pack, then put it down to grab the one I eventually took.  I have no idea what was in the pack I put down, but it was probably better than the [...]

Basketball Interlude: Seriously, Lebron?

on November 13th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

Just saw this quote in an article about James’s theory that any NBA player who currently wears #23 on their jersey should give it up in a tribute to Jordan, effectively retiring Jordan’s number league-wide.
Fine.  A noble goal.
OK, maybe James isn’t quite that noble after all.  The article had this quote: “I feel like no [...]

Lest we forget…

on November 11th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with [...]

Contest Winnings from Wax Heaven!

on November 5th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

A while back, Mario over at Wax Heaven had a contest.  He was giving away the winner’s choice of cards from his break of 2009 Bowman Sterling football, in exchange for finding some of these:

I tracked down 8 or so, and got in touch with Mario.  He sent the Bowman Sterling cards I selected my [...]

New Addition: 2007 Bowman’s Best

on October 24th, 2009 by thehamiltonian

In 2007, Josh Hamilton’s card population exploded.  Aside from strict prospect only sets, I think he was in every set issued.  In fact, he might have been in most of the prospect sets as well, because he was one of those ‘Rookie Logo’ players in 2007.  His comeback was big news, but for most of [...]

Today’s mail shows the benefits of plowing through everyone’s tradelist when they say they are interested in a card of yours.  Every so often, you find a card you need, but that you weren’t specifically looking for.  For me, this is usually Josh Hamilton cards from between 2000 and 2004.  He had a ton of [...]

2008 Upper Deck Heroes Purple /25

on October 1st, 2009 by thehamiltonian

I picked this card up in a trade on The Bench.  I freely admit – purple is not my favorite colour.  Hamilton cards /25 are among my favorites though, so I will make an exception.  Heroes was one of those sets that just seemed to keep going.  Hamilton had a ridiculous number of cards in [...]
